SILICONE ADDITIVE
SILICONE ADDITIVE are majorly used as additive in coatings, paints and polishing. main feature is the reduction of the surface tension of the liquid coating. Due to this very specific property they are successfully used to overcome surface defects like cratering, poor wetting and others. The paint additive lowers the surface tension of the paint solvents and presumably coats the individual pigment particles to prevent them from coalescing. The additive prevents one pigment of a multi -pigment system from agglomerating in masses or floating to the surface of the paint Film. Silicon additive is used for spreading and lubricating as well. In textiles the product is used for improving the quality of fabric making it soft and smooth.
Active polyether siloxane copolymer that is primarily used to eliminate cratering and to improve slip. Used in solvent-based, water-based and energy curing coatings, Paints and ink formulations to eliminate cratering, improve slip, anti-blocking and flow. It also prevents separation problems like pigment floating, flooding and silking and provides mar resistance.
Maintains uniform pigment dispersion. The paint additive lowers the surface tension of the paint solvents and presumably coats the individual pigment particles to prevent them from coalescing. The additive prevents one pigment of a multi-pigment system from agglomerating in masses or floating to the surface of the paint Film.
Amount used ranges from 0.05-1.0% weight percent based on the total formulation. It can be incorporated at any stage of the production process or added during final let-down.
